STV GROUP A.S. as a system integrator, it covers the supply of ammunition for Caesar howitzers
Certification and production of ammunition for new self-propelled howitzers will be provided by Czech companies led by STV GROUP a.s. As a system integrator, it will be a supplier of ammunition with standard and extended range, but at the same time it will cooperate with other Czech companies. Thanks to this, the strategically important supply security for the Czech artillerymen will be ensured.
"For the Czech defense industry, the production of 155 mm ammunition is a breakthrough project. It is not only a symbolic crossing of an era of Czech artillery. For Czech companies, we are acquiring a production capability of a completely different technical level. I am glad that we managed to involve other Czech companies in the project, especially EXPLOSIA and the Military Technical Institute.
Negotiations with the supplier of howitzers to ensure the security of supplies of ammunition for our soldiers were not easy, and I must therefore thank the Ministry of Defense for maximum support during these negotiations," says the chairman of the board of directors of STV GROUP a.s. David Hac.
According to the agreement with the sister company of the manufacturer of the CAESAR 8x8 cannon, NEXTER Munitions, the conformity of Czech ammunition will be assessed by the Military Technical Institute s.p. The certification of ammunition for ACR guns thus remains in the Czech company and will not depend on the supplier of the weapon, with the exception of ammunition testing for the specifics of a particular gun. This will ensure an unbiased control over the quality and performance of the ammunition.
STV GROUP a.s. will be a direct manufacturer of standard STV107 projectiles and STV HE ER extended-range cartridges, allowing to hit targets at a distance of up to 40 km. The state company EXPLOSIA will supply bi-modular propellant cartridges for these missiles. Special ammunition will be supplied to the Czech armed forces through STV GROUP a.s. supplied by NEXTER Munitions.
The transition to standard ammunition of the armies of NATO states also means an opportunity for the Czech defense industry, when STV GROUP a.s. and other involved Czech companies opens the door to export markets, where 155 mm ammunition is the desired type. In addition, the physical production of ammunition on the territory of the Czech Republic will support the creation of new jobs. Given that STV GROUP a.s. is a family business taxing its profits in the Czech Republic, the purchase of domestic ammunition will also further support the Czech economy.
