Kontakt-1 explosive element (ERA)

Kontakt-1 explosive elements are a part of explosive reactive armor for main battle tanks such as T-55 or T-72. 

Special set of holders and racks is installed on each tank to carry empty steel boxes. Tanks in transport, training and not-combat mode are usually using with empty steel boxes.

Before combat use, each steel box is filled with 2 pcs of special inner charges – Kontakt-1 explosive elements.
