The BVP-1 Infantry Fighting Vehicle is a high mobility tracked vehicle providing crew with high ballistic protection and lethal fire superiority. It increases the firepower and manoeuvre capability of troops on the battlefield and is used to transport crews and destroy enemy armoured targets, protected shelters or personnel.
The main weapon station is a low-pressure 73mm smoothbore gun. It is also possible to use the 9K11 Malyutka anti-tank guided missile launcher. The side and rear doors house firing stations for two machine guns and seven submachine guns. The vehicle's sealing and filter-ventilation equipment provides protection for the crew from the pressure wave and the effects of weapons of mass destruction. The vehicle is amphibious.
